News * New

hi, I'm Rachel (PR freelancer, ex-fashion school student and founder of TSF.com). I started the blog way back in 2005 (before there was barely anything about Toronto fashion online) and spent many really fun years documenting fashion and street fashion in Toronto!

I recently had my second baby boy and my days of fashion parties, designer shows and frivolous shopping are but a happy memory. I still work a little on the blog, do other freelance writing and PR when I can!

So, please don't feel offended if I haven't responded to your E-mail, party invite or store opening. I do pass invites along to other bloggers though and we try to cover what we can!

Thanks for reading!

Men in Movember Moustaches: A Style Guide

Saturday, November 6th, 2010

Wait until mid-November when you start to see moustaches everywhere! It’s sort of hilarious and surreal at the same time to see so many men donning ‘staches, but all for a good cause.

November is officially the month where men around the world grow moustaches in a giant awareness/fundraising campaign for prostate cancer – suitably named Movember. For more information and to help the cause, go to the Movember Canada site >

Stil in Toronto (blog)

Saturday, November 6th, 2010

I am attempting to update the links page and just now realized that Stil in Berlin – a beautiful street style blog – also publishes the Toronto peeps that street photographer Dario Natale’s captures – and still somehow manages to make them look like they’re somewhere in Europe…

Well, the two weeks of fashion week(s) in Toronto began at the beginning of this week, and fortunately for the hoards of Toronto bloggers, I barely feel as if I’ve missed a thing! (note: LG Fashion Week by L’Oreal Paris officially begins Oct. 18-23, 2010 – the off-site shows are being touted by Toronto Life as ‘Rogue Fashion Week’)

Plaid Capes (fall 2010)

Monday, October 11th, 2010

The weather’s been sooooo beautiful lately but seeing as it is fall, it is bound to get chilly without warning very soon!

I found my plaid cape two years at Goodwill or something and most of the bloggers pictured here were wearing their plaid capes last year,  but since we’ve recently started seeing good ol’ celebs sportin’ capes just lately, it will likely be at your local Forever 21/Urban Outfitters/Anthropologie in no time.

This is sort of what I’ll look like this fall in my blue cape :)

I made it to two events last week, including the Breeyn McCarney show (review to follow) and managed to finally meet a handful or two of new peeps…which is actually quite exciting because I love the friendly network that is the Toronto fashion blogging scene…

Toronto blogger turned international street photographer star Tommy Ton photographed 13-year-old blogstar Tavi for the Une fille un style pages. Reported by Laura Minquini on her blog…

2. ‘Why I Hate Fashion’/'Why I Don’t Hate Fashion’ by Eye Weekly Style Writer Sarah Nicole Prickett

I actually read Eye Weekly nowadays when I receive a Tweet or FB link from its newest City Style columnist Sarah Nicole Prickett – who has pretty much revamped (or created) the section. The comments at the end of this article are somewhat vicious – but call me privileged, a de-valuer, or vain – ‘I Don’t Hate Fashion’ either…. Curious to hear what you think.

(and while we’re at it, Tavi also rebuts…)

1. 20 Best Fashion Blogs

This London Telegraph article was written in October, but since this is a new column, it makes the list. Especially since the article really is comprised of many of the best – most influential and almost exclusive fashion blogs – and not a bunch of “fashionista” types.

2. Brangelina for Asprey

It’s true – and (yawn) not surprising perhaps. Brangelina, that is Angie and Brad have spent the past year designing high-end jewellery – serpent rings and talismans if you will, that will cost a fortune but will raise funds for charity. I like Brangelina, but enough already.

3. Four people have been arrested in Peru on suspicion of killing dozens of people in order to sell their fat and tissue for cosmetic uses in Europe

I hate to add such a dismal link, but I heard about this twice in one day and it’s just another selfish, vain human truth that we should probably know about. Basically, human fat is used in many high-end cosmetic and beauty products and in this case, gang members were caught for trafficking human fat. Horrifying.
