News * New

hi, I'm Rachel (PR freelancer, ex-fashion school student and founder of TSF.com). I started the blog way back in 2005 (before there was barely anything about Toronto fashion online) and spent many really fun years documenting fashion and street fashion in Toronto!

I recently had my second baby boy and my days of fashion parties, designer shows and frivolous shopping are but a happy memory. I still work a little on the blog, do other freelance writing and PR when I can!

So, please don't feel offended if I haven't responded to your E-mail, party invite or store opening. I do pass invites along to other bloggers though and we try to cover what we can!

Thanks for reading!

Plaid Capes (fall 2010)

Monday, October 11th, 2010

The weather’s been sooooo beautiful lately but seeing as it is fall, it is bound to get chilly without warning very soon!

I found my plaid cape two years at Goodwill or something and most of the bloggers pictured here were wearing their plaid capes last year,  but since we’ve recently started seeing good ol’ celebs sportin’ capes just lately, it will likely be at your local Forever 21/Urban Outfitters/Anthropologie in no time.

This is sort of what I’ll look like this fall in my blue cape :)

Sears New Look – Attitude Fall 2010

Friday, October 8th, 2010

It’s such magic the way a 1. photographer 2. stylist 3. hair and makeup pro 4. lighting assistant and 5. photo touch up artist can transform everyday items into works of fashionable art.

And for this project, Sears Canada spared no expense in recruiting some of the city’s best talent to really inject some drama and provide inspiration for shopping at a store our parents (or grandparents) used to.

Now take at look at the individual pieces (skirts, shirts, etc) on the Sears Canada website and then see the beauty presented here:

Fidelity New Denim Looks Fall 2010

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

Everybody (back) in denim.

I personally think this whole denim trend is re-emerging a little early. Jean jackets, vests and head to toe denim… Therefore, I give it about 2-3 years to hit its max.

In the meantime, looks from our Canadian friends at Fidelity

Soia & Kyo Canadian Coats

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

Canada Goose down-filled parkas, the ever popular extremely warm winter coats, are both very expensive, yet highly covetable. TNA are also very popular in these parts – and their coats are also very warm and can be somewhat pricey.

Another option though – parkas aside – for stylish, warm Canadian-made quality is Soia & Kyo – a Montreal-based outerwear company that started in 2004 and is now implanted in department stores over the globe.

Shop from their website or search online for better deals… Coats are categorized into Wools, Leathers, Downs and Rainwear.

Speckled Hoody: Clothing Brand Experiment

Saturday, September 11th, 2010

Up until this fall, I was a hoody girl (now I’m just trying not to look like I’m going to school every time I leave the house). I love(d) my hoodies and especially loved acquiring the most stylish and unique…

I came across the Speckled Hoody on the Clothing Brand Experiment blog – a Toronto company, led by Elly Green who set out to make the absolute best hoody and keep production local. Now, she makes hoodies and tshirts and leads awesome collaborations in the city with urban artists who all create limited edition wares.

CBE will be at the Clothing Show in Toronto next weekend…

Foxy’s Cabaret

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

Somewhere between really cheap earrings from Ardene and loads of marked-up costume jewellery at The Bay is Foxy Originals – a really successful venture from two Canadian gals who both design new collections for each season and keep manufacturing in Toronto (there’s a great video on their website).

I buy something new from Foxy at least every year and always get great compliments. And although prices are not anywhere near say Forever21′s – these items actually last without falling apart.

For Fall 2010, the girls present Cabaret:

Much Love and Kudos to the FDCC – Toronto’s Fashion Week Organizers, however,

The big news this fashion season in Toronto is that:

1. a handful of talented, functional Canadian fashion designers chose to show their fall collections off-site and before the scheduled Toronto’s LG Fashion Week (Philip Sparks, Greta Constantine, Evan Biddell, Nada, etc…).

2. Robin Kay and her slew of feisty volunteers at the FDCC, the small group that organizes LG Fashion Week, had many location issues, but eventually secured a new fashion week landing spot at the Allstream Centre – which naturally is criticized.

3. LG Fashion Week has become a fashion circus (which I think we sometimes like). It is not only held after the fashion buying season, but is increasingly becoming a platform for general public fashion junkies – which makes local media feeling unhappily squished and claustrophobic.

On this rainy Monday – a little pessimism:
