News * New

hi, I'm Rachel (PR freelancer, ex-fashion school student and founder of TSF.com). I started the blog way back in 2005 (before there was barely anything about Toronto fashion online) and spent many really fun years documenting fashion and street fashion in Toronto!

I recently had my second baby boy and my days of fashion parties, designer shows and frivolous shopping are but a happy memory. I still work a little on the blog, do other freelance writing and PR when I can!

So, please don't feel offended if I haven't responded to your E-mail, party invite or store opening. I do pass invites along to other bloggers though and we try to cover what we can!

Thanks for reading!

Korres is Now Available @ Shoppers Drug Mart

Wednesday, September 7th, 2011

I was so excited to hear that Korres, the natural and organic skincare line from Greece is now available in select Shoppers Drug Mart stores across Canada!

Apparently over 400 Shoppers Drug Mart stores will start carrying the brand – sadly not my local but I will seek it out. Previously, I bought the succulent face creams and antioxidant makeup from Sephora (or from the giant store in New York). But having it at Shoppers is just so much more accessible.

Maybelline’s Great Lash Celebrates 40 Years With Lots of Lashes

Friday, July 29th, 2011

Can you believe Maybelline’s iconic green and pink Great Lash mascara has been around for 40 years?! (that takes it back to 1971 or around the time my mom started wearing mascara). In celebration of it’s anniversary, Maybelline is introducing Great Lash Lots of Lashes mascara – it’s the same product with a new heart-shaped brush.

I love how clean and clump-free it goes on and I actually did get some good impact with a second coat. Lots of Lashes will be available in drug stores in August ($6.49)!

INSTANT VACATION AT The TEN SPOT

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

Nestled at the end of an alley charming as any lane in Thailand, The Ten Spot beauty bar gleams with stainless steel, shining white subway tile, and luxe-industrial concrete floors. Like a four star resort, clients are greeted with virgin cocktails and a fresh selection of fruit and cheeses. A perfect getaway from rarefied spas where laughing and gossip is frowned upon, the Ten Spot is made for giggling girlfriends. And for those with limited time between meetings and martinis, Ten Spot now offers The Works – manicure, pedicure, and full facial – all within an hour!

Estheticians use Dermalogica – an all natural line of skin health products that supports FITE (which provides mircro-credit loans for women ). The delicate scents of the cleansers, exfoliants, gels, masks and hydrators will make your eyes roll back in your head, and combined with the foot and shoulder massage, it’s enough to melt away a migraine. The collagen mask is great – a sheet of dry collagen is melted onto your face with warm water – it feels incredible! The staff is skilled, courteous and stylish – they’ll walk you through the season’s latest colours – from party pinks to OPI’s Pirates line of sun-bleached blues, greens and greys.

Hanging out in Leslieville:

Even if you’re not an east end girl, the Ten Spot is worth the trip. After you get The Works, take your gal pals next door to Queen Margherita Pizza – and get your manicured hands on the city’s best pizza. Then mosey westward to Any Direct Flight, where you’ll find expertly tailored togs by Canadian designers. Do stop in at Jaws Antiques (I can’t explain this place – you’ll just have to trust me!), and of course Gadabout is a stone’s throw away. (If you haven’t seen Victoria Dinnick’s horde of vintage finery – obey me now, and thank me later).

My sister and I have indulged in the finest spas in the country, and we both agreed that the services at Ten Spot were as good or better. And be advised – the Ten Spot also offers services for gentlemen – from the Hand Job to the Cracker Jack Wax!

DIY Couture: Half Moon Manicure

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

photo: The Cherry Blossom Girl

ChickAdvisor.ca asks in their recent DIY Half Moon Manicure blog post – Hot or Not? And I had to share this after seeing The Cherry Blossom Girl’s tres chic, jewelled half moon manicure .

The new trend, following the spring 2011 runway look, is to reverse the french manicure, leaving nails blank and just adding color to the ‘moon’ as opposed to the Dita Von Teese classic of leaving moons white. Two tone would be hot using trendy spring 2011 pastels or grey too.

Apparently celebs are already making this popular (who knew) so I better get on it. Just need to get me some 3-hole reinforcement stickers and try it myself.
