News * New

hi, I'm Rachel (PR freelancer, ex-fashion school student and founder of TSF.com). I started the blog way back in 2005 (before there was barely anything about Toronto fashion online) and spent many really fun years documenting fashion and street fashion in Toronto!

I recently had my second baby boy and my days of fashion parties, designer shows and frivolous shopping are but a happy memory. I still work a little on the blog, do other freelance writing and PR when I can!

So, please don't feel offended if I haven't responded to your E-mail, party invite or store opening. I do pass invites along to other bloggers though and we try to cover what we can!

Thanks for reading!

I first heard of Vancouver interactive design company Tangible Interaction when they designed a flourescent, digital graffiti wall for the Chanel New York store re-opening. For this installation, two 23-foot long LED canvasses were erected for guests to spray paint on with infrared CHANEL cans.

Other amazing projects Tangible has conceived:

1. Zygote Balls that change color when touched or pushed – For the closing ceremonies at the Vancouver Olympics 2010, 20 beautiful zygote balls were ‘released’ in the arena, all changing colors every time someone hit them. Sort of like giant cyber balloons with a futuristic twist.

2. Another graffiti wall – a 3-day Converse installation where people could paint shoes.

The fun continues into the evening with music from renowned harpist Liang Lin, dance performances from The Baila Boogaloo Dance Co., Vietnamese cultural dance performances by the Vietnamese Student Association at York University and Ryerson University, and a Mid Autumn Fashion Show that showcases the incredible designs of Vyvian To. Festival revelers are invited to cap off the evening by joining in a Mid Autumn Lantern Parade from the Redpath Stage to the Natrel® Pond.

Cigar Chic?

ok this is not Toronto – it it New York/Milk Studios – and likely a party where a cigar company (Camacho Cigars) handed out cigars to the crowd. I get at least a hundred e-mails a day, but this one caught my eye so I decided to share… Maybe it’s ‘cuz these peeps make smoking look sexy ;)

So the Toronto International Film Festival is going on in the city, which is very exciting, although I am apartment hunting and working and am not celeb sighting or movie watching, unfortunately.

I came across this at Toronto Life Daily from my friend the lovely Biko at Lamu Tamu (pictured second and the winner of T.Os best dressed) of Natalie Portman and the girls at the Black Swan premiere – thus the swan-like attire. For more photos of celebs in the city, check out the site.

Soia & Kyo Canadian Coats

September 15th, 2010 | posted by Rachel S | Posted in Shopping & Boutiques

Canada Goose down-filled parkas, the ever popular extremely warm winter coats, are both very expensive, yet highly covetable. TNA are also very popular in these parts – and their coats are also very warm and can be somewhat pricey.

Another option though – parkas aside – for stylish, warm Canadian-made quality is Soia & Kyo – a Montreal-based outerwear company that started in 2004 and is now implanted in department stores over the globe.

Shop from their website or search online for better deals… Coats are categorized into Wools, Leathers, Downs and Rainwear.
