Strut for a Cure Fundraiser, via Candice & Alison Luxury Events:

“STRUT FOR A CURE GALA starring supermodel COCO ROCHA, may 27 toronto
A frenzy of media and Toronto’s most fashionable crowd welcomed supermodel Coco Rocha on the red carpet at her annual charity event.
CANDICE&ALISON were honoured when asked to play such a significant role in one of few organizations that gives back 100% of its profits to the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation in support of cancer research, specifically paediatric oncology, a hugely underfunded segment.
There was no shortage of entertainment value to engage the crowd throughout the evening. As guests arrived they were welcomed into the Field House of the Berkeley Church to the sounds of international DJ’s brought in specifically for the night from the widely popular Nikki Beach franchise. Graciously sponsored by Toronto’s most sophisticated supper club the Roosevelt Room, the models turned DJ’s were eye candy for the throngs of ladies. The crowd then flowed through into the entertainment epicentre that was the historic Church space itself, entering a dimly lit room with DJ Adrien Villanova poised atop his altar-like stage. When the space was full and the time was right, FashionTelevision’s queen, Jeanne Beker kicked off the evening’s fashion show. Flown in from London for the event, Todd Lynn and his Fall/Winter 2010 collection captivated the tightly packed crowd. Coco was the first and last to strut her stuff down the runway, and thanked her adoring fans before introducing the uber chic electro-pop band Dragonette who rocked the masses. Canada’s own DJ jojoflores closed out the night making the afterparty last into the wee hours. (photo by 5ive15ifteen photography)”

Peachy interns, Marika and Ruby in Peach Berserk’s silkscreened G20 dresses – complete with all the leaders!

I received an E-mail from Kingi Carpenter – our Peach Berserk sponsor – who recently finished her G20 dresses, complete with all G20 leaders!
“Here is what I learned making it…. only two of the ‘leaders’ are women, and the Prime Minister of India is cute as a button. And, in case you were wondering we crammed our glorious leader waaaay over to the side, so he won’t make it on very many dresses… Also my timing was a bit off when we made the silk screen for it. We made the screen RIGHT before the British election, and put Gordon Brown on it. The print was ‘out of date’ in 2 days! We had to redo it with the new British Prime Minster. Politics and fashion are a tough combination!”
Shout outs to Angie because we share the same birthday!

I know I’ll get slack for this tardy mention – but now that the hot hot summer weather is upon us and we needn’t cover up beautifully colorful clothing with over clothes – it’s a great time to showcase Toronto-based designer Ashley Rowe’s Splatter Tees ’sure to get you noticed’ – available online or at Chasse Garde, 1084 Queen Street West. Each tee involves a three day process: 1. splatter (by hand) 2. dry 3. bake 4. wash 5. dry (again) – custom looks available.

We met and have been aware of the intense talent of Toronto-based fashion designer Zoran Dobric even before his Toronto Fashion Week days and regular National magazine profiles. His Fall 2010 collection of signature Dobric printed sheer tunics and folksy skirts garnered a little more media attention (he is very low key) in this fashionable time of designer graphic prints and collaborations – although his artsy, painted creations have been hand-detailed and meticulously decorated, with their avant-garde slash Eastern Euro flair for many years.
For the Fall 2010 collection, Dobric collaborated with designer Aleksandar Skoric to produce many of the textile prints. Photos from both Spring and Fall 2010 Collections.

Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky – A film by Jan Kounen
Paris, 1913. At the Theatre Des Champs-Elysées, Igor Stravinsky premieres his The Rite Of Spring. Coco Chanel attends the premiere and is mesmerized, but the revolutionary work is too modern, too radical: the enraged audience boos and jeers. A near riot ensues. Stravinsky is inconsolable. Seven years later, now rich, respected and successful, Coco Chanel meets Stravinsky again — a penniless refugee living in exile in Paris after the Russian Revolution. The attraction between them is immediate and electric. Coco offers Stravinsky the use of her villa in Garches so that he will be able to work, and he moves in straight away, with his children and consumptive wife. And so a passionate, intense love affair between two creative giants begins…
