L'Oreal Fashion Week Day 4: L'Oreal, [FAT]
and Stylus Canada After-parties
by Sonja Andic
Feeling pretty rock and roll tonight, because I know that tonight
I get to have it all at fashion week. I actually feel a bit rebellious
and dress accordingly. Lots of black, tight black pencil skirt,
a black satin coat dress with black lace trim, dark mauve footless
tights, a gold shoulder bag with long hot pink fringes….and
to finish the look, metallic snakeskin heels. Ahhhhh…A big
sigh of fashion relief.
Let’s see what is happening at Muzik. The night has been
christened ‘street to high style’. Now this I gotta
see! I am definitely dressed for it.
Izzy’s Back
Oh I can’t believe it, I have missed another Izzy show. Why
does this always happen to me at fashion week? Not to worry, I do
what I always do when I miss a show, head to the media tent for
food and coffee. I am just hanging around when Tiffanie Ing, our
new TSF.com PR gal struts into the tent. She is wearing the most
beautiful soft pink Wonderlust strapless dress. It makes her skin
glow. She makes a good foil for my darkness. Suddenly everyone arrives
talking about Izzy.
Some mixed reactions…but Izzy does have serious fans. I
have a laugh with Nathalie Atkinson, National Post Fashion
about the sorry state of trying to get ready in a rush
to see any fashion show on time. And we are not talking about major
wardrobe malfunctions. No, we are moaning about trying to find tights
in a big bag of hosiery. Nathalie implores why no one has yet invented
a device that organizes all your hosiery so you can easily select
tights without a fight...
Joeffer
Caoc
Now for a brisk run around the media tent and on to the next show
– Joeffer Caoc. Tiff and I score great seats beside Mary
Symons from TFI. The spring collection is all about great
fabrics, simplicity and layering. Not totally sure about the oriental
origami references. Someone beside me kept saying it reminds them
of fancy boudoir dressing. Anyways, there were some very wearable
pieces; reminded me of classic New York for some reason. Hmmmm….my
mind is wandering. I need to get to another fashion week parallel
dimension. Let’s go see what is happening at alternative fashion
week.
Last Rites for [FAT] on the Street
The theme tonight at Alternative Fashion week [FAT] is street style.
I am so glad to be invited. The venue is packed full of people.
Two cues [that’s line-ups for those Brits] for the bar. Many
attractive men of the Balkan persuasion, hot music, cute stylish
friends, snapping cameras, beautiful models, original fashion –
it’s all good fun!
The street fashion on this fermenting cellar catwalk floor is ‘out
there’ as far as some of the style. See
our photo gallery! Abstract and surreal comes to mind. This
is [FAT]’s last night, so it is not just a show it’s
a major party. I must take a million pictures of super hip stylish
guests. Have a chat with Marlene Shiff of Boutique
Le Trou about the overwhelming response to [FAT] this season. She
is so passionate about the Toronto fashion scene – she wants
to start her own fashion planet populated by fashion thespians.
I say ready the rocket; I will be there for take off. (Galliano
was sporting a space suit at his recent collection; the ship must
be near completion!) The last FAT night was wonderful with tons
of energy, a real party going on alongside the runway. I was disappointed
that more of the Toronto fashion community did not come out and
support this unique event. Shame on you who didn’t make it
out!
Stylus Mobbed with Models
You can trust that an after show party held by a modeling agency
for women and men is going to have a fierce ration of one to one
models. Everyone is very young and very much a model. I just hope
it doesn’t get ‘too girls gone wild’. This is
Stylus’ 6th annual fashion week party and this year it is
rock’n at This is London. (OMG, my feet are killing me) I
change into reserve silver flats and make a road for home. Fashion
week is not over yet….prepare for the worst. Day 5 is all
about survivors at this point in the week. Let’s see who makes
it out tomorrow? Hey hold it a minute I still haven’t gotten
my L’Oreal press kit swag bag….of all the nerve!
