Desperately Different by Katya Revenko

Katya’s spring 2007 show was a wonderful medley of historic and artistic references. Structured fitted jackets and Victorian lace was shown next to drapey jersey gowns and skirts in a colour palate of grey, black, white and purple. Katya outfitted models handing out press kits in long purple satin gowns with elegant pleating.

Talking to her, Katya said her inspiration comes from all over, but that she believes strongly in a woman’s inner beauty and artistic talents. (Ballet is one of her favorite art forms.)

“Toronto is such a great launching pad,” says Katya, "and a place to bring new design talent to the centre of the stage for the rest of the world.”

She counts Denis Gagnon among her favorite Canadian designers and owns many of his pieces.
