Day 3 –
Wednesday – Media Tent
I'm
wearing: Well it was pretty good. Bronx cream suede pirate boots
worn with a silver lame halter top dress and a black cotton military jacket
from Best Mountain.
Never left the media tent. I am sure the shows went on fine with out me.
Day 5 –
Friday the last day – Chio, Parasuco
I'm
wearing: Grey suede knee boots from Jigsaw London, black velour
long shorts, black cropped faux fur jacket with vintage silver circle
pin and my fave black H&M earrings.
Chio
This swimwear show was again highly anticipated for viewing naked flesh.
I sat next to the reporter from Naked News and there was more than enough
said about flesh from her. All good I might add. She seemed like just
the right person to sit next to during a swimwear show.
The show
was presented in two parts. The first half got me thinking about high
school and things high school girls like. Like…playing cowgirl dress-up,
lace & crochet trim, wee bottom skimming cotton gym skirts, pink,
white and baby blue…things girls think are sexy at that age. Part
two of this show suddenly flings our high school gal into the Kasbah scene.
You gals aren’t in Kansas anymore. Suddenly it turns sultry, sophisticated
and clearly adult, which is well reflected in the designs and fabrics
for Chio. This half of the show we see more adult fabrics and cuts. Some
super shinny fabric [I don’t know what it is] but it looks like
it’s wet and highly lickable. Just mind your tongue on the Swarovski
crystals used in some of the designs. Beach cover-ups are kaftan like
and could easily be worn for cocktails by the pool. I definitely want
one.
 The
end of this show slides into what I would say is Juicy Couture territory.
White terry toweling bikinis with fruity & flowery needlepoint embellishments.
Vibrant flower print suits and to accessorize Gypsy inspired cover-ups
in white with ruffs and lace detail heading back to the 1960’s.
The passion is evident in every design. The models were very good; class
A.
Parasuco
Am very excited about this show as I got to preview the male models on
Tuesday night at an after party. Can the only reason you are going to
a show be just to check out the male models…..? YES! And I feel
so strongly about that, that I brought my sister Marie along to share
in the joy. The show was scheduled to start at 9pm but started at 10pm.
Both my sister and I agree it was worth the wait.
First out
was the denim collection for men and women. All the jeans were fab. Denim
in skinny leg, just cut to the knee, short shorts & short skirts in
light colors with loads of gorgeous embellishments on back pockets, thighs
and trim. Quite liked the women’s tops – feeling was motorcycle
rebel meets ranch hustler. Sexy super thin knit cotton tops with embellishments,
rivet snaps closures and puffed short sleeves. Again a strong 1970’s
influence, cowboy chic with a modern kick. Detail I most liked on the
women’s tops was the scooped out back showing lots of skin. Great
if you’re flat chested.

The second
half of the show swept away traditional preconceptions of the Parasuco
brand with a new line called Mademoiselle Parasuco. This collection is
all about whispers of silk floating in white, draping provocatively off
the body Lolita style. Preferably for a younger clientele, hence the name,
but very wearable. I was surprised by it and loved it. I want get my hands
on a few of the pieces, which if worn in the street could easily be mistaken
for a white S/S 06 Chanel, D&G, Anna Sui or Chloe design. Lots of
designers are doing white innocent floaty numbers for S/S. Unfortunately
the goody bag for Parasuco show did not have a catalogue or where to buy
info.
Well that was the week see through the eyes of a newly inspired &
relocated Toronto fashionista. I must say that I did love it all, even
though I did have a few criticisms here and there. I would do this week
all over again if I had a chance it was such a blast. I meet some fantastic
people. Took lots of photos and lost my heart to a few male models…..thanks
for reading.
