Canadian fashion incubator and high-profile shop owner Marlene Shiff, along with her band of stylish creatives, bravely featured the first show of L'Oreal Fashion Week with a six collection showcase of Canadian designers. This spectator sought originality and innovation found in veteran Montreal designer Marie St. Pierre's tailored line of wrap dresses and suiting, decorated with her signature pleating and detailing. The two most popular designers - Jason Matlo and Jason Meyers - invoked the most energy from the unusually subdued crowd with party frocks and red carpet gowns. Matlo's strategic draping must surely guarantee a sexy physique for any woman, while Meyers' silk coat dresses and babydolls continue to add fuel to his growing popularity. Rachel Schwab |
