Behind the Scenes for the Victorian Appetites Photo Shoot

by Sonja Andic

Torontostreetfashion got behind the scenes recently at a grassroots fashion shoot with stylist Sandy Martin, photographer Clint McLean and a stuffed peacock! It’s not all glamour and champagne darlings! Here is how they did it...

Three keywords: planning, budget and location.
If you don’t get this right, you don’t have a shoot. The team planned out the Victorian Appetites shoot in just three weeks and remarkably scored their location only a week before. Whew….but that is actually how a lot of these ‘indie’ fashion shoots work. The location for Appetites was a private Victorian home in Parkdale - which just happened to belong to a family friend of one of the models' parents. Such providence is typical of a grassroots photoshoot. Most times the budget can’t support renting a professional studio for the day and you just have to make do with what serendipity has to offer you.
