Day In The Life
"People think fashion is elitist and exclusionary. Real fashion
is someone's uniqueness - something everyone can be a part of".
Maha
Working as a stylist goes way beyond a day on set or spending a
few hours scouting a wardrobe. As a self-employed artist, it's an
all encompassing job.
"My life is non-stop market-editing - a stylist should know
where to get anything in the city (white shirts, gold shoes..) -
and I've got business on my mind 24-hours a day," says Maha.
"Did I take back those shoes? Who do I have to bill? Who's
calling me now?!"
And you never know who might call. Nelly Furtado contacted Maha
to help with her extensive '04 Juno Award wardrobe (5 outfits!).
And just recently, an opera singer and ET Canada viewer called the
television station looking for Maha to help with her performance
outfit (not a typical job yet he found her a fabulous dress and
even lent her his mom's earrings)!
"I did a ton of free shit for a long time but made sure to
take this job seriously from day one".
