News * New

hi, I'm Rachel (PR freelancer, ex-fashion school student and founder of TSF.com). I started the blog way back in 2005 (before there was barely anything about Toronto fashion online) and spent many really fun years documenting fashion and street fashion in Toronto!

I recently had my second baby boy and my days of fashion parties, designer shows and frivolous shopping are but a happy memory. I still work a little on the blog, do other freelance writing and PR when I can!

So, please don't feel offended if I haven't responded to your E-mail, party invite or store opening. I do pass invites along to other bloggers though and we try to cover what we can!

Thanks for reading!

1. 20 Best Fashion Blogs

This London Telegraph article was written in October, but since this is a new column, it makes the list. Especially since the article really is comprised of many of the best – most influential and almost exclusive fashion blogs – and not a bunch of “fashionista” types.

2. Brangelina for Asprey

It’s true – and (yawn) not surprising perhaps. Brangelina, that is Angie and Brad have spent the past year designing high-end jewellery – serpent rings and talismans if you will, that will cost a fortune but will raise funds for charity. I like Brangelina, but enough already.

3. Four people have been arrested in Peru on suspicion of killing dozens of people in order to sell their fat and tissue for cosmetic uses in Europe

I hate to add such a dismal link, but I heard about this twice in one day and it’s just another selfish, vain human truth that we should probably know about. Basically, human fat is used in many high-end cosmetic and beauty products and in this case, gang members were caught for trafficking human fat. Horrifying.

Places I haven’t been:
by Rachel

While I love receiving invites to many fashion-related events within Toronto, I personally can only attend very few because of ‘real’ life which these days is family and other work obligations. Fortunately, my Toronto blogger friends -the original crew- are still going strong so that we can all live vicariously through them….!

This month in the Toronto fashion blogsphere (part 1):

Anita – I want I got
Holt Renfrew Fall 2009 – 2010 Menswear Media Preview
As we all know, Holt Renfrew is Toronto’s luxury department store and carries many coveted designer brands. Anita lists Holts’ the top upcoming trends for dudes – with many photos!

Danielle – Final Fashion
a week’s worth – 12-06-09
I love this – every week Danielle posts snippets of the places she’s been and people she’s seen in ‘a week’s worth’ (which is all T.O. fashion related). Last week, she went to the Eleven grand opening and hung out with some local designers. Last week, she worked on her Keds for the Worn Journal Sol[e]d event, which sold for $350!

Tommy – Jak & Jil
Tommy doesn’t blog about the Toronto fashion scene anymore – he has moved on up to be at the center of the action and attention, mostly in Paris. His Jak&Jil blog is one of the top 10 fashion blogs in the world because of its gorgeous photos and in-depth knowledge of fashion faces and coveted items! Even Justin Timberlake reads Jak&Jil!

LG Fashion Week link GUIDE

Monday, March 16th, 2009

Toronto’s newly branded LG Fashion Week kicks off in Toronto today and is sure to to wipe out the hundreds of folks working in the industry by next weekend.

Although public tickets are available for shows, the fashion week crowd is mainly made up of editors, journalists and photographers; the designers and their crews of stylists, models, producers, etc.; the behind-the-scenes executive committee; retailers and buyers; and family and friends of designers.

Most of Canada’s top designers participating include David Dixon, Joeffer Caoc, Pink Tartan, Andy-the-Ahn and Lucian Matis. Local favorites include Comrags, Ula Zukowska and Zoran Dobric. The Joe Fresh showing is sure to draw a standing-room only crowd as is the Bustle collection with its tightly-themed stage show to match the clothes.

During the week, we will be following:
