News * New

hi, I'm Rachel (PR freelancer, ex-fashion school student and founder of TSF.com). I started the blog way back in 2005 (before there was barely anything about Toronto fashion online) and spent many really fun years documenting fashion and street fashion in Toronto!

I recently had my second baby boy and my days of fashion parties, designer shows and frivolous shopping are but a happy memory. I still work a little on the blog, do other freelance writing and PR when I can!

So, please don't feel offended if I haven't responded to your E-mail, party invite or store opening. I do pass invites along to other bloggers though and we try to cover what we can!

Thanks for reading!

How to Wear Colored Tights: Secret’s Fall Collection

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

So although we’ve been seeing colored tights out and about for a few years now, as predicted they’ve just recently become popular with the masses. (Doesn’t it always take awhile for people to embrace color?!)

I’ve always loved my color tights – such a great way to add color and interest to an outfit! Don’t be afraid: give your legs some color with a black dress, pair with prints or even keep your outfit all in the same hues.

Secret’s beautiful fall colors include gorgeous deep tones like charcoal, deep teal, black iris, blackberry, sangria and chili pepper.

‘NOT’ How to Wear It: Flare’s Editor Style

Monday, August 15th, 2011

I am not one to outfit bash by any means but when I came across this photo of Flare Magazine’s assistant market editor Erin O’Brien  – a photo that is part of Flare Magazine’s ‘How To Wear It: Editor’s Style (sept 11) I had to give my two cents.

Now I love Flare mostly – gorgeous editorials and stylish contributors – but call me out of fashion if you will, but I think this is one hideous outfit. Seriously, faded denim paired with white lace and a tiered furry fringed skirt?? And that stretch belt – ugh! Maybe I should read the explanation in the magazine…

Erin looks gorgeous – the outfit as part of a ‘How To Wear It’ feature – NOT!

on another note, here is Fashion Director Elizabeth Cabral pairing a sequined gown with a varsity jacket – you be the judge:

Men in Movember Moustaches: A Style Guide

Saturday, November 6th, 2010

Wait until mid-November when you start to see moustaches everywhere! It’s sort of hilarious and surreal at the same time to see so many men donning ‘staches, but all for a good cause.

November is officially the month where men around the world grow moustaches in a giant awareness/fundraising campaign for prostate cancer – suitably named Movember. For more information and to help the cause, go to the Movember Canada site >

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

This is not something I would normally post – an Old Navy flyer – however, I think their latest marketing efforts are genius! As a retailer/manufacturer – what a clever idea to very simply show people exactly what to buy and how to wear it…

Joe Fresh Fall 2010: Cheap Chic

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

I love Joe. I have to admit that I rarely find things for myself except the occasional belt or pair of gloves as I’m not really into that simple ‘club monaco-y’ style. However, I do love the pickings and love love the kids stuff.

If you don’t know by now, Joe Fresh can be found in Loblaws Superstores, usually right in the middle between the organics and freezer aisle…what a great way to shop!

(love the styling…great everyday, easy looks…)

+ Dita Von Teese – Modern Day ‘Pin-Up’ Gal inspired by ladies of the 40s
dita1

I had to do a little Internet research last week for a 40s Hollywood Glamour themed-party- that turned out fabulously (photos will definitely follow).

Before Marilyn Monroe….

I was so inspired by photos of 40s actresses and even everyday women with their hourglass shapes (we are just not made like that anymore), pin-curled hair, classic make-up and feminine demeanor. This is the era of Rita Hayworth and Veronica Lake; an era that inspired ‘pin-up’ girls and the look of ladies like Dita Von Teese.

So to preface my 40s evening and escapade, I want to share photos of a few of the era’s most beautiful leading ladies (there are many more famous not included here) and the look of the 40s:
