News * New

hi, I'm Rachel (PR freelancer, ex-fashion school student and founder of TSF.com). I started the blog way back in 2005 (before there was barely anything about Toronto fashion online) and spent many really fun years documenting fashion and street fashion in Toronto!

I recently had my second baby boy and my days of fashion parties, designer shows and frivolous shopping are but a happy memory. I still work a little on the blog, do other freelance writing and PR when I can!

So, please don't feel offended if I haven't responded to your E-mail, party invite or store opening. I do pass invites along to other bloggers though and we try to cover what we can!

Thanks for reading!

Joe Fresh Queen St. West “Runway” Location

Friday, October 14th, 2011

We love Joe Fresh! It’s chic, cheap – can be mixed up and worn with even the most expensive designer items. Almost all of my most fashionable friends admit to shopping at Joe Fresh every once in awhile, which is pretty impressive for a chain brand of clothes that are sold in the grocery store.

Well, actually Joe Fresh is on fast-forward, opening plenty of stand-alone stores all over Canada and even smack dab in the middle of Manhattan! Currently, T.O gals in the know are excited for the latest Joe Fresh locale – at Queen and Portland – which is rumored to be the only Joe Fresh store in Toronto offering almost all of the Joe Fresh runway and ready-to-wear pieces. Joe might not be so cheap anymore…

CityLine’s Fashion Fridays: Winners, Sandra Pittana & David Dixon’s LBDs

Friday, October 14th, 2011

CityLine has been on forever! Of course Marilyn Denis hosted the show for eternity (now she has her own great daytime show) – and now Tracy Moore talks fashion, home decor, home improvements, cooking, beauty and gardening every day during the week.

Every Friday is Fashion Friday – usually pretty good especially when someone like Sandra Pittana has styled some fabulous new “accessible” looks from some popular store – and it’s not only for suburban women!

I don’t always watch the 10 a.m show but caught some of it today with a Winners fashion show – and a David Dixon feature with his collaboration of little black dresses with The Bay (which by the way are all on sale for $105 right now!) Honestly, these LBDs look way better on and with accessories – but there’s really a look for almost everyone!

Winter ‘Sustainable’ Florals at H&M

Wednesday, October 12th, 2011

Available at only a few select stores in Canada (The Toronto Eaton Centre, Bloor Street, Yorkdale Mall, Downtown Montreal, The Pacific Centre and Metropolis at Metrotown) H&M’s Conscious Collection for fall 2011 is influenced by “the sweet romance of Swedish folklore”. Every piece in the collection is made with more sustainable materials, from organic cotton or linen to recycled wool and organic hemp.

Feminine, luxuriously embellished and pretty – the collection includes embroidered wool coats, lace blouses and floral accessories.

If I splurged on ONE designer piece this season it might be this…

OK this is a Spring 2012 piece but Rad Hourani does it again with his uber-cool unisex creations. But this time it’s transformable too. Collection #8 consists of ONE garment in six fabrics that has 22 looks! (I can’t imagine how much this will cost – but with coats priced at $2000-$3000 and $500 cardigans, I don’t think it’ll ever be mine:(

TOPSHOP in Toronto!

Tuesday, October 4th, 2011

Yes, it’s true! The Bay is bringing the UKs most popular high street brands TOPSHOP and TOPMAN to Toronto! There will be a big launch celebration over the October 5, 2011 long weekend with deals, exclusive items and a DJ!

The new Topshop Topman flagship boutique will be in Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Centre (with plans to open more stores hopefully closer to downtown) taking over two floors in The Bay. The look and feel of the new 15,000 square foot space will evoke the spirit of London’s iconic Oxford Circus store with its carnival neon shop lettering, graphic mural decals and black accents throughout the store.

I love that Topshop Topman Yorkdale will have the same selection of trendy clothing and accessories and specialized collaborations as the UK stores. There’s a curated selection of the Unique collection (the one shown at London Fashion Week) as well as collabs with Simone Rocha and Michael van der Ham scheduled for later this month. For men, Topman is  introducing LENS AW11 with three new designers; Uniforms for the Dedicated, Daniel Jackson, and David David.

And also amazing is The Bay’s new web launch with online shopping – also launching on October 5th. Check out thebay.com/topshop and thebay.com/topman after October 5 for the Topshop offerings!

*With around 300 stores in the UK, and over 100 in international territories – including a New York flagship in the US – Topshop’s is considered the world’s largest fashion store on the high street, attracting over 200,000 shoppers each week.
