News * New

hi, I'm Rachel (PR freelancer, ex-fashion school student and founder of TSF.com). I started the blog way back in 2005 (before there was barely anything about Toronto fashion online) and spent many really fun years documenting fashion and street fashion in Toronto!

I recently had my second baby boy and my days of fashion parties, designer shows and frivolous shopping are but a happy memory. I still work a little on the blog, do other freelance writing and PR when I can!

So, please don't feel offended if I haven't responded to your E-mail, party invite or store opening. I do pass invites along to other bloggers though and we try to cover what we can!

Thanks for reading!

Well, as a stay-at-home (working) mom, I am living fashionably vicariously through others these days. While I recall happy memories burning the candle at both ends during fashion week in Toronto (the parties, the shows, the socializing!!), I’m busier doing other things – BUT do however take a moment here and there to catch up on some of what I’m missing.

My Favorite Places to Get the Lowdown on Toronto’s LG Fashion Week Spring 2012 Collections:

Nathalie Atkinson @ The National Post

Nathalie has this way of writing about fashion shows that gives the reader a detailed, visual glimpse into the scene. She not only presents an anecdotal account of her experience; she also describes color, cuts and textures, making her reviews my fave. Definitely one of the better writers (if not the best) on the fashion scene.

Sarah Nicole Prickett @ The Toronto Standard

With a reputation of being slightly harsh at times or just telling it like it is (so unTorontonian!), SNP documents the good, the bad and the “undeserving” as the Toronto Standard’s Style Critic this fashion season. She’s street schooled in current global fashion so I always welcome the chance to learn a thing or two…

Various Writers @ Toronto Life Daily Style

I’m a Toronto Life Magazine fan (mostly) so love that the blog is so diverse and easy to browse. But to tell you the truth, I don’t really read the blog all that much – just look at all the photos!

Paul Aguirre @ Blog TO

Almost gave this blog an Honorable Mention until I actually scrolled through the coverage. A little bit of fashion shows, some trendspotting, profiles…Not a lot by very impressive this season anyways (who is this Paul?!) Written with unbiased, open eyes…And great photos too. Oh, and there’s even a profile on Daniel Wilson – ex TSFer who is now the Social Media Coordinator for LGFW!

Amy Lu and Kevin Gonsalves @ Peroni Moda Files
So easy to read and look at!

CityLine’s Fashion Fridays: Winners, Sandra Pittana & David Dixon’s LBDs

Friday, October 14th, 2011

CityLine has been on forever! Of course Marilyn Denis hosted the show for eternity (now she has her own great daytime show) – and now Tracy Moore talks fashion, home decor, home improvements, cooking, beauty and gardening every day during the week.

Every Friday is Fashion Friday – usually pretty good especially when someone like Sandra Pittana has styled some fabulous new “accessible” looks from some popular store – and it’s not only for suburban women!

I don’t always watch the 10 a.m show but caught some of it today with a Winners fashion show – and a David Dixon feature with his collaboration of little black dresses with The Bay (which by the way are all on sale for $105 right now!) Honestly, these LBDs look way better on and with accessories – but there’s really a look for almost everyone!

There is so much amazing talent and super awesome publications out there I can’t even begin to keep up! I was just introduced to this online and print glossy Fiasco Magazine via stylist Amy Lu at Peronimodafiles.com. The following is a shoot she styled featuring Canadian model Tara Gill in woolly scarves and cowls, knit sweaters and chunky knits like this Lucian Matis sweater dress.

There is so so much beautiful photography and professional talent in every issue of this magazine. If you have time…

The Grid T.O. – Toronto Culture

Thursday, September 8th, 2011

By now you must have Toronto’s newest culture magazine, The Grid. It’s big, bright and best of all, free! The Grid takes over for the defunct Eye Magazine – it’s bigger in size, looks waaay better and is so easy to read. Actually, it’s like a website – with lots of bits of easy to scan info, flashy headlines and a lot of really light content. I really like it!

The Grid is also online >> , New editions come out weekly, but blog content is updated all the time.
