News * New

hi, I'm Rachel (PR freelancer, ex-fashion school student and founder of TSF.com). I started the blog way back in 2005 (before there was barely anything about Toronto fashion online) and spent many really fun years documenting fashion and street fashion in Toronto!

I recently had my second baby boy and my days of fashion parties, designer shows and frivolous shopping are but a happy memory. I still work a little on the blog, do other freelance writing and PR when I can!

So, please don't feel offended if I haven't responded to your E-mail, party invite or store opening. I do pass invites along to other bloggers though and we try to cover what we can!

Thanks for reading!

Lisa vs. Ceri

November 18th, 2008 | posted by Rachel S | Posted in Magazines & Media

I came across a blog post from ‘Canadian Magazines‘ blog where the blogger quotes a Forbes Magazine article that states Cindi Leive, the editor of Glamour magazine, is America’s most influential fashion editor (not Anna Wintour).

** What’s most interesting is the slew of comments on who could be Canada’s most influential fashion editor - between Fashion’s Ceri Marsh and Flare’s Lisa Tant. **

Cindi Leive was named because apparently Glamour reached its highest circulation ever (taking online circulation numbers into account). I’m certainly no expert on the subject, but I hardly think that is what secures the title of ‘Most Influential Fashion Editor’. The people at Forbes are definitely not reading Vogue or InStyle daily.

In Canada, however, where numerous new magazines have popped up (and folded) in just the past five years, most people aren’t familiar with the leading ladies behind our top fashion mags (or couldn’t care less). Through further Googling, I came across these interesting articles featuring Canada’s apparent Top Two:

Ryerson Review of Journalism (2006)
Fashion
magazine editor-in-chief Ceri Marsh shows that good manners still go a long way

Fashion editors may look like Barbie, says Flare’s Lisa Tant. But we’re GI Joe underneath. Meet one of the toughest…

For the record, Canada has more that two fashion mags (I’m talking print-only):

Lush
Zink Canada
